Xinjiang is a Nice Place at Zabeel Theatre, Dubai
"Lift Your Veil — Xinjiang is a Nice Place" is a large-scale stage play integrating musical, dance, poetry recitation, and painting. It was jointly created by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, and the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. As an "Excellent Performance of Stage Art in the New Era", the play is divided into three parts: "Dance from Tianshan Mountains", "Flying along the New Silk Road", and "Symphonic Kunlun Love". It involves traditional songs and dances and the latest literary and artistic achievements in Xinjiang, showing the new image, new appearance, and new style of Xinjiang in the new era. With a strong Xinjiang style, the performance shows an open, developing, and happy Xinjiang. The performance also broke through the form of electro-acoustic recording. The whole process of dance, vocal music, drama, and epic chant was accompanied by a live band. The unprecedented difficulty and richness in combining multiple art forms have demonstrated the original expression form and strong artistic strength of Xinjiang songs, dances, and music to the greatest extent.
Founded in 1949, Xinjiang Art Theater Song and Dance Troupe (formerly known as Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe) has performers from multiple ethnic groups, including Uygur, Han, Hui, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tajik, Mongolia, Manchu, and Xibe. It is Xinjiang's most representative art performance troupe. More than 200 works have won awards in major Chinese and international cultural and artistic activities. Among them, the large-scale folk dances "Happy Songs from Tianshan Mountains", "Sunny Xinjiang", "Beautiful Xinjiang", the musical "Warming Tianshan Mountains" and the song-and-dance drama "Forever Meshrep" won the National Best Works Award, the Gold Award for National Ethnic Minority Drama, the Gold Award for Lotus Prize in the National Dance Competition and dozens of individual awards respectively. The troupe has been invited to visit more than 90 countries and regions on behalf of the country many times, winning the favor of the governments and people of the visited countries and making outstanding contributions to China's cultural diplomacy.
