Canadian singer and composer Loreena McKennitt, known for her eclectic Celtic music, has sold nearly 20 million albums worldwide over her 30-year career. As part of her "The Mask and Mirror 30th Anniversary Tour" organized by Pasion Turca, she is set to perform her most special songs for her Istanbul audience at Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre on July 2nd, following the release of her latest album, "The Road Back Home."
Released in 2024, "The Road Back Home" reflects a musical return to Loreena's roots, revisiting the early days of her career and the characteristic communal culture of the folk world. The album, consisting of 10 songs, is available on digital platforms as well as in CD and vinyl formats.
Loreena McKennitt's albums and mystical songs have resonated with a wide audience not only in North and South America but also in Europe and Australia. Her 2018 album "Lost Souls" was highly acclaimed and brought her closer to her fans in Turkey.
The album presents a rich and eclectic array of contemporary ideas, spanning from Indo-European tribes to Bedouins. Featuring instruments like the nyckelharpa (a Swedish folk instrument), oud, qanun, flamenco guitar, and various percussion, Loreena McKennitt also plays the piano, keyboard, accordion, and harp, in addition to her vocals.
In March 2019, Loreena released the album "Live At The Royal Albert Hall," capturing her performance at one of the world's most iconic venues. In December 2022, she introduced the album "Under A Winter's Moon," where she not only performed but also took on the role of producer, playing the harp, keyboard, and accordion.
Loreena McKennitt's illustrious career has earned her numerous awards, including Canada's prestigious Juno Award and the Billboard International Achievement Award, with two Grammy nominations as well. Her albums have reached gold, platinum, and multi-platinum sales across four continents.
