Discover Egypt's vibrant folklore through traditional dances and cultural heritage!
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, in celebration of Egypt as the Guest of Honour, welcomes for the first time the “AUC Alumni Folklore Group”
The group showcases a collection of folk dances designed by Pinky Salim, representing various Egyptian regions. One dance performed is presented in its original form, created by the art's pioneer and greatest icon, Mahmoud Reda, the first to introduce diverse Egyptian folklore dances to the public.
The group is dedicated to preserving Egyptian folk art, a cornerstone of performing arts deeply rooted in Egyptian heritage and identity.
Established by passionate graduates of the American University in Cairo, the group united dancers across generations to revive and practice this authentic Egyptian art form.
Initially formed by university dancers, it later expanded to include non-graduates due to the remarkable success of their performances. This growing popularity attracted young dancers and captivated audiences with this beautiful art.
Today, the group boasts thirty dancers and organizes several annual events attended by thousands in person and tens of thousands online.
